Unlike other oral contraceptives drugs that include headaches and nausea as their major side effects, Yasmin and its sister products Yaz and Yasminelle, can cause serious side effects that can even be deadly.
With Yasmin, women who were otherwise healthy have developed respiratory symptoms, vaginal bleeding disorders and other physical problems as a result of taking the drug. Victims are pointing the finger at Yasmin’s maker, Bayer HealthCare, who did not make these warnings easily accessible on their packaging.
Bayer’s birth control drug was approved by the Food and Drug Administration in 2001. Suspicions and evidence regarding long-term side effects are just now surfacing as Yasmin, Yaz and Yasminelle are believed to cause chronic:
Along with these diseases, Yasmin can also cause difficulty breathing, speech or hearing impairment, signs of thrombosis, or blood clots. When blood clots dislodge in a vein, they form a blockage, or embolism, which can lead to a stroke, heart attack, or death.
Because of their severity, women who experience Yasmin side effect symptoms should report their concerns to a doctor, lawyer and state health commission.

Suppose you’ve requested Viagra from your doctor to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) and enjoy a better sex life. Before you begin, or continue to the take pill, you should be aware of the serious Viagra risks and side effects that can end in personal injury or death.

The manufacturer admits that a certain portion of men who take Viagra will suffer major health damage. Yet Viagra—and similar erectile dysfunction medications like Cialis and Levitra—provide what no other prescription drug can, so the choice for consumers is a difficult one.
Serious Viagra side effects are uncommon, but can be life threatening or cause lifelong impairment. Cialis and Levitra pose the same hypotension risks.
Major Viagra risks include:
- Cardiac arrest
- Hearing loss
- Blindness
- Penis damage
Some of the injuries reported by men who use erectile dysfunction drugs were heart attack, optic neuropathy (vision lost to an eye stroke) and priapism (painful, enduring erections). Your risk for these side effects is very small unless you have a history of similar medical conditions. If you do, the only way to avoid all risk is to forego erectile dysfunction medications.
If you or a loved one suffered a serious side effect or developed a health issue as a result of taking Viagra, consult an experienced personal injury or product liability attorney right away.
Singulair and suicidal thoughts in children who use the drug are now believed to be linked, according to a June 2009 consumer update issued by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Singulair allergy and asthma medication is a once-daily oral treatment that effectively addresses respiratory symptoms in adults and children—with potentially fatal side effects.

Although the FDA states that reports of child patients with suicidal thoughts or behavior on the drug are valid, it has not issued a Singulair recall. It has, however, required the manufacturer to alert medication consumers about the possibility of deadly side effects.
Data and patient comments have accumulated in the 10 years that counter the manufacturer’s claim that Singulair is safe. Based largely on consumer claims of suicidal tendencies while taking or coming off Singulair, including in children, the FDA began an investigation in March 2008.
The FDA investigation came after three actual suicide cases and numerous attempts—some by children. Learn more about Singulair product liability.

Prempro hormone replacement therapy (HRT) has sent a high proportion of women to the hospital in over a dozen years on the market, and the victims are getting restless.
Court claims began rolling in by the thousands as women in menopause and post menopause realized that their health problems were caused by Prempro’s side effects.
Manufacturer data and FDA approval had convinced doctors and patients that HRT and Prempro were safe at first. When a 2002 cancer report maintained that they were not, drug maker Wyeth took steps to make the medical community think otherwise.
Doctors kept prescribing Prempro to relieve symptoms of menopause and to reduce women’s risk of developing osteoporosis later in life. When patients did report fewer symptoms and fewer bone fractures, they could hardly deny Prempro’s effectiveness.
Many patients quit the drug following the 2002 news of Prempro side effects and the FDA’s publicized “black box” cancer warning. But for some, it was too late.
Both women on Prempro and those who had stopped HRT showed a higher incidence of heart attacks and some cancers, and a much higher rate of dementia. Lawyers are claiming that Wyeth warned consumers too lightly or too late to avoid serious injury or death.
Prempro’s side effects created victims of the patients it purported to help. Wyeth’s possible manipulation of data published in medical journals may finally prove that the drug company is liable for victims’ injuries.
If you or a loved one suffered a serious side effect or developed a health issue as a result of taking Prempro, consult an experienced personal injury or product liability attorney right away.

A recent Advair and Serevent investigation by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) showed that both asthma medications had an ingredient known to cause death in patients. Side effects linked to salmeterol in Advair and Serevent have prompted a partial drug recall, with potential for more to come.
Salmeterol is a beta agonist that works to prevent bronchial spasms, reducing the number of asthma attacks that patients suffer. According to the drug company, when used alone, deadly side effects may occur. Used in combination with a corticosteroid, they don’t.
But not all researchers hired by the FDA agree with this assessment. Data does show that Advair, which uses the steroid, has a lower incidence of severe side effects than Serevent. But the risk is still there.
Pediatricians may not accept this risk. While the FDA voted a drug recall for Serevent and not Advair, pressure from consumers and the medical community may prevail. Abstaining members of the FDA’s advisory panel requested further clinical studies, especially on vulnerable populations, such as children.
With child asthma cases on the rise, the safety of the long-term asthma medication that kids will take will become even more important. The FDA has already recorded incidents of pediatric asthma attacks, respiratory damage and deaths related to salmeterol.
